Welcoming New Faculty – Kristin A. Sonderman, MD, MPH

Please join us in welcoming Kristin A. Sonderman, MD, MPH, as a new faculty member in the Department of Surgery.

Kristin A. Sonderman, MD, MPH
Associate Surgeon, Division of Trauma, Burn and Surgical Critical Care

Dr. Sonderman completed her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, where she went on to receive her medical degree. She holds an MPH from the Harvard T.H Chan School of Public Health. She completed her general surgery residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and a Paul Farmer Global Surgery Fellowship from the Program in Global Surgery and Social Change at Harvard Medical School. She was also an Arthur Tracy Cabot research fellow at the Center for Surgery and Public Health at the Brigham. She most recently completed a trauma and surgical critical care fellowship at the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center of the University of Maryland.

Dr. Sonderman is a member of various professional societies, including the American Medical Association (AMA), the Association of Women Surgeons (AWS) and the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM). She is an associate fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a fellow of the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma (EAST).

Dr. Sonderman’s research interests include surgical capacity building in low income countries through national surgical planning, surgical education and training. Additionally, she has interests in trauma education and resident development.
