Welcoming New Faculty – Enobong J. Efiong, MD

Please join us in welcoming Enobong J. Efiong, MD, as a new faculty member in the Department of Surgery.

Enobong J. Efiong, MD
Associate Surgeon, Division of Trauma, Burn and Surgical Critical Care

Dr. Efiong completed a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from New York University and received her medical degree from SUNY Upstate Medical University. She completed her general surgery residency at Geisinger Medical Center and a fellowship in surgical critical care from Georgetown University affiliated MedStar Washington Hospital Center.

Dr. Efiong is double board certified in general surgery and surgical critical care. She is a member of various professional societies, including the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma (AAST), the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the American Medical Association (AMA).

Dr. Efiong’s areas of interest include resident education and global health. She believes regularly meeting patients at one of the most vulnerable times in their lives is imperative, especially while ensuring their perspectives are acknowledged and appreciated. She views her role as both systematic and collaborative, making sure patients are compassionately cared for, educated and equipped to make safe informed decisions, as she helps them navigate the path to definitive treatment/surgical intervention.
